Your relationship with the Life Science Medical Health physician is unique. The correct diagnosis must be made and this ensures your treatment plan will be effective and safe. Back to top

4. Can I do this over the phone or internet? Not at all! For your safety and to comply with the various legal regulations throughout the country, all of our patients must see one of our physicians before starting any treatment plan. Back to top

5. How do I get started with hormone therapy? Call Life Science Medical Health at 1-210-555-5555. We will listen to your issues, needs and goals and determine if you would be a good candidate for treatment. A simple blood test would then be ordered to drill deeper into your health status. Back to top

6. If I go to one of your physicians will I automatically qualify for treatment? No. You are required to do lab work before starting a hormone program. We will only treat patients with hormonal deficiencies. If your hormone levels are optimal or there are contraindications to treatment, or if you want the medications for other than medical reasons then you may not qualify for a treatment plan. 7. Do you accept insurance? No. In order to provide the absolute best care without the unreasonable restrictions placed on patient choice by managed care HMOS’s/PPO’s, we do not accept any third party payments including insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid. In addition we will not fill out any paperwork or respond to any inquiry from insurance companies. Operating outside of insurance allows us to offer superior service. Back to top

8. What are your prices? At Life Science Medical Health we offer individualized treatment plans and customized hormone replacement therapy. We do not offer a “one size fits all” approach and can only provide an estimated range of hormone treatment pricing. Everyone’s hormonal profile is unique and therefore, our programs treatment is formulated based on lab work, physical exam, medical history and symptoms. We can only give exact pricing after you have been seen and evaluated by the physician. Back to top

9. Is hormone therapy safe? Yes. There are numerous studies that have come out over the past years that have attested to the safety of hormone therapy. Remember, all of our treatment programs are physician supervised and medically monitored to offer you absolute confidence and security. We only prescribe therapeutic doses of hormone medications required to optimize your levels and we use only high quality bio-identical hormones as medically indicated. Natural hormones, or “bioidentical hormones” have been growing in popularity because they are highly effective and without the harsher side effects that can come with the use of synthetic chemicals or animal-derived hormones. Back to top

10. Are there side effects with hormone therapy? The question here should be risks versus benefits! As with any medical program that utilizes medications there is always a chance of side effects. Because our doctors only prescribe medically appropriate dosages of natural-based, bio-identical hormones, the potential for side effects is minimized. In fact, less than 5% of our patients experience side effects. These side effects are generally reversible and go away by simply reducing the dosage of the medication. Back to top

11. When should I think about increasing my hormone levels? With men and women, hormones start to decline in the mid to late twenties. By age 35 declines are sufficient that symptoms may be evident. The best time to start optimizing hormones is when you start to notice symptoms that affect your quality of life. In most people this happens between the ages of 35 and 50. However we have men in their low 30’s, late 70’s and 80’s that have successfully benefited from our hormone therapy programs. If you are experiencing increased irritability, fatigue, loss of sex drive, trouble sleeping, loss of muscle and weight gain – you should consider it! Back to top

12. How do I know if the treatment plan is working? Is my hormone therapy working? Typically, you will notice that you are feeling better within four to six weeks. We carefully monitor you and fine tune your therapy to its optimum levels. Our hormone programs include but are not limited to diet, exercise and lifestyle guidelines that support hormone health and ensure treatment success.

Beware of any hormone therapy program that lets you order hormones or prescription hormone medications but do not provide you good follow up care with a licensed physician and a properly tailored treatment plan. Back to top

13. I’ve seen other clinics and doctors advertised, why is Life Science Medical a good place to go? Our physicians listen carefully to you and after much consideration personally tailor a therapy program to meet your medical needs. Treatments that incorporate hormone medications have to be unique to that patient’s specific make-up. Back to top

14. Will hormone therapy help sexual dysfunction and restore my sex life? Sexual dysfunction can have many causes, however, optimizing hormones can lead to significant improvement. We suggest raising your testosterone (this applies to women too!) to a healthy level to boost your sex drive and address problems with erectile dysfunction. We’ve treated thousands of men and women who have reclaimed their sex lives back with an Life Science Medical Health treatment plan. Back to top

15. Are hormone meds the same as steroids? No. When we treat patients we only treat those patients with hormone deficiencies. We also only use bio-identical hormones which are identical in structure to what your body already produces. We also only prescribe therapeutic doses intended to bring your levels up and still stay within what we consider to be the clinically “best” range for your needs.

Athletes and body builders who abuse steroids generally have normal hormone levels to begin with. They take steroids in order to increase muscle mass or get an unfair advantage in competitive sports, not to treat a medical condition. These individuals are seeking super-physiological dosages that are usually greater than five to ten times the recommended therapeutic hormone dosage! They also usually take blends or “stacks” of designer anabolic steroid drugs that are not bio-identical in nature. Back to top

16. What health conditions is hormone replacement therapy helpful for? Bio identical hormone replacement therapy can be used to treat the following health conditions: Andropause. Andropuase, or hypogonadism, is the period of a man’s life beginning around the age of 40 marked by a decline of testosterone. A man’s body changes and symptoms of hypogonadism or androgen deficiency commence. Symptoms caused by low testosterone, or Low T as it’s now referred to include loss of sex drive and desire, erectile dysfunction or impotence, soft erections, depression, mood swings, irritability, insomnia, weight gain, fatigue, loss of energy, loss of muscle and bone mineral density mass, muscle softness, cardiovascular disease, hair loss, lowered physical agility, memory loss, lowered mental acuity, focus, concentration, ambition and drive. Perimenopause or pre-menopause. Is the transitional period leading up to menopause during which time a women’s body starts to undergo hormonal change. Hormone replacement therapy for women helps to restore the delicate balance of estradiol, estrone, estriol, progesterone and in some cases testosterone.  Symptoms of perimenopause include irregular menstrual periods including strength and duration of menstrual periods, hot flashes, night sweats and chills, vaginal dryness, vaginal discomfort or itching, loss of sexual desire and a lowered libido, less inability to orgasm, trouble sleeping and insomnia, mood swings, irritability, extreme tiredness and fatigue, emotional outbursts and tearfulness, feelings of depression and sadness. The duration of perimenopause can last for 4 to 6 years and ends with complete cessation of the monthly menstruation for 12 consecutive months known as “amenorrhea”. Menopause – A gradual process that happens when a woman’s ovaries make less estrogen and progesterone, the delicate balance of her hormones is disrupted as her lifetime supply of eggs is depleted and ovulation gradually comes to an end. A woman is considered to have reached her menopause when she hasn’t menstruated for a minimum of 12 consecutive months. Pregnancy has still been known to occur up to 2 years beyond that point so birth control should still be practiced. Natural menopause typically occurs between the ages of 40 to 59. Symptoms of Menopause Include: Loss of libido and sexual appetite, vaginal dryness, itching and discomfort, hot flashes, hot flushes, night sweats and chills, extreme fatigue, inability to sleep and insomnia, irritability, mood swings, tearfulness, depression, dry and wrinkling skin, brittle hair and nails, social.
